The National Parks Board, together
with the South East CDC and Singapore Environment Council
will be starting a reforestation project at Pulau Ubin.
The aim of this project is to turn
a barren site of about 3 ha on P Ubin, which was previously
used for quarrying activities, into a forested one within
8-10 years.
This is an ongoing project, which
will be launched on Wednesday, 7 November 2001.
Volunteers are needed to plant 300
saplings on that day.
Those who are interested to volunteer
can contact Ms Jennifer Neo from the CDC at Tel: 2402792 or
jennifer_neo@pa.gov.sg.
